Here are some of the following FAQs that will help you understand exactly what we use the crowdfunding feature here on our website for, how it's used and where the money goes, etc., explained in very clear, easy-to-understand, simple details:
What is the Crowdfunding Feature on Your Website Used For?
Simply put, in clear terms, we use it to fundraise once in a while to cover a variety of expenses, such as studio production costs, music video production fees/filming permits, travel/tour expenses, distribution expenses, merchandising fees and other project-related expenses that is related to my art, music, writing/poetry, filmmaking, vlogging and photography career, whenever a brand new project, film, vlog series, new EP or album, new comedy skit series, new merchandise, new artwork, or new tour/show dates are announced to the public. In rare exceptions/scenarios, we might end up using the feature to raise emergency expenses/funds, such as if we were in an accident while on tour, or needing to cover rental car expenses in case that we break down somewhere in the middle of nowhere, hotel/lodging expenses if we end up getting delayed in between stops and layovers, or if bad weather exceptions occur, or in scenarios such as the COVID-19 pandemic, we'd raise funds to ensure that we can keep our website online, our lights on, our bills/living expenses paid, etc. - it's not just me and team of wonderful musicians who works with me that needs your help with such expenses; it's our entire music studio production team, our roadie crew, our tour and music business management team, our merchandising team, our street team members, etc., along with my publishing crew and everyone else who's been involved with all my projects since day one, who all are in this together working as best as we can during difficult times to ensure that you get your content/music/comedy/art/films/vlogs/poetry/writings, etc., from yours truly, the best show/tour experiences of your lives, enjoy such rare and intimate moments with the crews at meet-n-greet events, your merchandise delivered on time (if you ordered anything from our website) and more.
We also from time to time do a lot of community fundraisers, giving back to the fans, or helping out marginalized communities with food, supplies, equipment, etc. in times of crisis, use the funds to help someone achieve a lifelong dream or goal, help someone beat cancer of any type, help a homeless veteran or 10 homeless veterans or more, give supplies/food/necessities to struggling working poor individuals and families, help out the homeless with our pop-up cookout events to host and cook healthy, delicious meals, donate to organizations/movements/causes that we support and so forth. We're not only very passionate in our line of work, but we're very passionate to help out those in need and give back to everyone in very big ways. We even reach out and help fans who struggle with certain crises in their lives as well. But most times, the majority of all fundraising we do for all regular creative/artistic/project-related/living expenses are done monthly via Patreon (which you can learn about by clicking here - this crowdfunding section of our site is only used for very special circumstances or projects, etc., and is usually a one-time thing once in a while whenever we announce said films, vlog series, comedy skit series, tour/show dates, new music videos, new art shows coming soon and more) - thanks for your support, and we will be back soon with more updates on whenever we go live with the crowdfunding.
Where does all the money go to after y'all have reached your fundraising goals?
Depending on what we raise funds for and why we're raising funds, we'd split it all up evenly to pay our studio production team, our studio musicians that we hire or guest musicians/vocalists/rappers to join us from time to time on certain songs and pay them for their services/time to work with us in the studio, cover travel/lodging expenses if need be in order to get together and make music in person (with the exception of situations like the COVID-19 pandemic, we are hereby still working on new music from our separate studio locations and home studios remotely distanced until further notice), mixing/mastering fees, album artwork costs, promotion/advertising costs then finally distribution fees to get it released to all online music store and music streaming platforms/services such as iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, etc. - we are EVERYWHERE! If we're raising funds for other purposes as stated above, you will get clear detailed explanations prior to launching a crowdfunding campaign from time to time and official updates/news about how we will use the funds to cover said expenses, to raise funds for a community affected by natural disasters, help someone beat cancer, help out the homeless, give back to marginalized communities, help a fan out once in a while, do pop-up food truck and cookout events for the communities we serve and the homeless, etc., which will all be posted in our weekly or daily vlog webisodes on our YouTube channel or posted right here on our crowdfunding blog updates. So rest assured, you will get your answers on where the funds go after or whenever we reach our crowdfunding goals each and every time.
Why should I donate to your crowdfunding campaigns every time y'all start such a campaign? What's in it for me?
While we certainly do NOT encourage solicitation or tell you how to spend your money in ways that could most likely help us all in big ways, the sad fact is that the industries we work in isn't really as all that great as many people think. We all do not make the same amount of money as every other musician, rapper, band, artist, etc. out there, and even worse, many underground and independent musicians/bands/rappers, content creators, comedians, artists, writers/poets, filmmakers, photographers, etc. all struggle financially to get through the day, working so many day jobs and trying to support our dreams and our careers on our own, with certain doubts and fears and dealing with crippling anxiety attacks on whether or not we're doing the right thing with possibly quitting our day jobs to go all in on our own dreams and goals, and we don't even break even whenever we release an new album, a new single or a EP, or put out a new art show displaying our latest artwork, or do stand-up comedy at a local club, or anything that we do to make our dreams come true, let alone try to sell as much merchandise as we can. And while the COVID-19 pandemic has hit a lot of us very hard, it has revealed how truly broken the industries (music, film, art scene, comedy, etc.) are as a whole in general, and how every level of "fame" that we strive to have, from the super rich famous musicians to the extremely marginalized working poor indie musicians or in certain situations, the starving artists are truly suffering way more than the rich famous musicians, and we can be one missed paycheck or one missed opportunity from selling our first album/EP/single/book/painting/drawing, etc. to a fan, or even a delayed or cancelled concert/gig/show, etc. away from becoming extremely flat-broke and potentially homeless and hungry and cold. And that's not fun... at all.
One of the goals we have with crowdfunding is that it not only keeps the lights on and our living expenses/bills paid for, but it allows us the opportunities that we are rarely able to afford to continue making content, manufacturing merchandise to be ready for sale on our online stores, and in the case of the COVID-19 pandemic, people like myself and my team are able to continue doing this from home and remotely distanced spots to avoid getting sick/infected with COVID-19 and be able to keep up with the entire world and all the scenes/industries that we're a part of to be able to do what we love to do, not feel like we're forced to do this, and just really enjoy making music/art/poetry/content/films/vlogs, performing gigs/shows again when the pandemic ends, pass out merchandise, etc.
Another big goal we have with crowdfunding is that we REALLY DO CARE ABOUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU. So whenever we hear about someone struggling and going through a very difficult time, or is one paycheck away from being homeless, or is already homeless and hungry, or is suffering natural disaster damages to their communities and their homes, or needs help with surgery costs, travel expenses, etc., we also do a lot of fundraising and give the money directly to you all, because we care in very big ways and we want to continue to also give back in very big ways. You help us, we help you. That's also another reason of why crowdfunding should be a new feature on our website, and why you can consider it as a motivation to give back to your own communities as well and help out those in need of your support. You might even know them, because they could very well be living next door to you, or living in a tent somewhere downtown in your city/town, or trying to make it through the day without stress and pain and suffering. It could be your own grandmas that might need the help that we're ready to provide someday. Who knows? It's one incentive of what's in this for you: giving back to you whenever someone in your community needs help, or if you yourself need help with fundraising efforts for what you need, etc.
Now, mind you, we do evaluate fundraising/crowdfunding requests from each and every single member of various communities all over, and we have to make sure that the fundraising/crowdfunding requests are totally legitimate and not a way for you to commit tax fraud or to scam anyone. We are very strong advocates of community accountability and being ethical in our line of work, so whenever we raise money for, say homeless veterans, or to get food/supplies to those suffering from natural disasters, or we team up with a community organization like FEMA or Off The Grid Missions or Access to Activism, etc. - all that money we raise must be legitimately fair and accessible to those who really need such supplies, gear, equipment, food, water, housing, clothes, excellent tools/resources to become successful or help with medical expenses if they're battling cancer, etc. We do not appreciate scammers or tax fraudsters and we will not tolerate pathological liars/sociopaths or people abusing the system. We stand firmly in our belief to help as many people as we can from time to time, whether with crowdfunding efforts or to do a benefit concert/gig to raise awareness and funds for climate change or other purposes to help out those in need, but we definitely will not tolerate scams/fraud of any type and we WILL DEFINITELY REPORT YOU to the proper authorities, especially if you're hellbent on trying to scam everyone and to commit illegal tax fraud. We hold the rich and powerful accountable, and we will definitely hold you accountable as well.
Sometimes there are musicians/bands, content creators, artists, writers/poets, etc. that offer cool benefits/perks/packages/swag/merchandise whenever I donate to them - will y'all be doing the same thing?
Well, obviously - HELL YES! Whenever we're able to, we'll give away some really cool goodies, swag or limited edition content, merchandise, free exclusive digital downloads, autographed stuff and whatnot when people donate to us via crowdfunding. It's another cool incentive of what's possibly in it for you to donate funds to us through the crowdfunding feature on our website whenever we announce that we'll give away, say an autographed guitar, or a cool limited edition vinyl record copy of our latest album, single, EP, new poem or a book that came out, etc. that is autographed by yours truly and the rest of the crew, or give away free tickets to our next show/gig near you, a t-shirt, a pack of stickers that is designed and made by our team, autographed prints/photos, or paintings that one of us did, etc. - there's plenty of cool awesome and most likely super rare limited edition swag that we'll give away for sure for those who donate a certain amount of money, and very much like Kickstarter, we will give out incentives/perks/rewards, etc. obviously, so sure, why not? We'll do the same thing.
Well, that's all the FAQs we have here for now in terms of how we use the Crowdfunding feature, and why we use it, etc. - if there are more FAQs, or if you have more questions, concerns, suggestions, etc., we'll address them accordingly as best as we can and update the FAQs here periodically from time to time. Thank you again for your support and we'll see you next time!
